So, what's everyone's thoughts on the new Taylor?

Easily her most most pop-oriented and craving for No1 single. She'll break some records, maybe even score No1 on Hot100 but ultimately I think she's gonna alienate more old fans that gain new ones. I predict she'll release some hardcore country promotional single (maybe the duet with Ed Sheeran she mentioned) before the album comes out to make it up for her core audience.
The song itself is the weakest single she's released since I believe Picture to Burn. It's a huge step backwards but I hope now that she's got that chart topper out of her system we're gonna hear more songs on her normal level.

So far I have only heard it a few times. Its not my most favorite song from her, but I don't hate it either. What I love about Taylor is her honesty and how she continues to be who she is no matter what is said or done by those who try to put her down.
God bless you and Taylor always!!!

From where it's trending on MEDIABASE, the Taylor is going to have one whopping debut!

It's a fabulous pop song. Not one that I'll be playing on my country airwaves. I know that probably just makes me unhip hip because I can't get into the rap country, pop country music

I had hopes she would continue to grow as an artist, but I was disappointed to hear that with this single she's regressed back about 5 years to her "I love you but you broke my heart in study hall so nanny-nanny-boo-boo to you" type stuff. It's a great pop song but it's pretty hard to draw a connecting line from this song to anything remotely country.
Will we be playing this song in 18 months? I seriously doubt it. Will it make her a lot of money? Of course.

Makes Katy Perry sound like an intellectual - obviously a fine song for the pop charts, but is there a country fan over 16 that wants to hear it? I'm open to persuasion.

Like many others believe, I think it's a great pop record and a terrible country record. If this was the late 90s early 00s, she'd be getting the Shania Twain/Faith Hill treatment at country radio. Probably still will to some extent, but not nearly to the point that those two got when they tried to go more pop than country.
