DELTA STAR RADIO OF FLORIDA, INC., based in Tallahassee, Fla., was granted a construction permit to build WDXD-LP 101.9. WDXD will operate on 101.9 with 33 watts ERP at an antenna height of 173 feet.

WDXD (Big D Country - Dixie 101.9) will program a country format, with a heavy emphasis on classic country music. There will also be special weekend programming, including a classic CCM program on Sundays and an old time country and Southern Gospel show on Sunday evenings.

Delta Star has operated an Internet-only station since 2001.

Currently, we are raising support to build out the station. We are seeking funding for equipment, the tower, and programming. It is estimated that it will cost roughly $11,000 to complete the build-out. We have purchased a used trailer for offices/studios, gave a family-owned studio and tower site, and ave begun work on an updated control room.

WDXD is now under construction.

Preparation is underway to put a 180 foot tower next to tne studio building. The control room is nearly complete.

The station is raising funds now to purchase the transmitter and antenna.

UPDATE: We have purchased the mobile office building that will serve as office and studios for WDXD. It has been outfitted with heat and a/c. The 180 foot tower has been delivered and is here on site. Likewise, the bulk of the studio equipment for te control room, and production, has been purchased and received.

We are still raising financial support in order to buy the transmitter, antenna, and EAS.

Our local shoe drive has not gained as much momentum as hoped for. Instead, I am going to be looking for at least seven underwriters at the $1,500 level to help get the station built.

Our schedule will include:

Classic country/country 1950s to now
Classic contemporary Christian music (Sunday)
Country and Southern gospel (Sunday evenings)

Didn't make it by September, but...

We are only short the transmitter and EAS now.

WDXD-LP 101.9 has begun on-air testing as of June 8, 2015.

The format will include country music from roughly 1950 to the present.

Filed our application for "license to cover" with the FCC this morning. WDXD has been built!
